Cot Bed
How did you decide when to make the move from cot to bed?
My daughter (22 months) sleeps in a cot but has started to climb out of her sleeping bag (she stands on the bottom of it and “pops” the shoulder poppers then shimmies out). She is very restless when sleeping so, with a sheet and blanket, she ends up uncovered and sometimes (even though the weather is warming up) gets cold and wakes up. She hasn’t started even trying to climb out of the cot yet, though.
What made you decide it was time to make the big change?
OK, I think we have a “divided by a common language” situation. As I am in the UK, by “cot” I mean a bed, meant for a baby, that has high sides to prevent falling/climbing out. I think in the US the word would be “crib” though, for me, that means a very small cot for a very small baby only. Is that any clearer?
my son is 27 months and has been in a bed for about 4 months. i decided it was time for a bed when he could climb out of the cot and one day he tipped it over! also he started to bounce and broke the lats! he has an adult size single bed and he loves it he tells me hes a big boy now. my son frequently kicks the duvet off so i have a sheet to tuck him in nice and tight and a duvet on top, i check him before i go bed and he wakes me in the morning. my son had a sleeping bag until last Summer when he worked out how to get out o it, i think its the sense of achievement and the challenge of it!
